Hallswood
Wildlife Sanctuary
Keith & Anne Hall have specialised in
wildlife for over forty years.
Anne was a major contributor to helping in the air lift of oiled sea birds
in the major oil slick disaster of the Sea Empress on the Cleddau Estuary in
west Wales in 1996.
Anne & Keith have also saved many thousands
of birds and animals in their sanctuaries in Essex.
Keith ran three animal hospitals in Essex for
many years. He has worked on many issues
of cruelty throughout the world.
He is also been a valuable adviser to many
organisations. He did lots of work in
Bullwood Hall in Essex,
a women’s top security prison for 5 years
advising and caring for birds kept within the prison.
Keith opened Hallswood when Anne suffered a stroke to allow
him the time to care for her during her ill health.
Unfortunately Anne passed away in September 2003.
Lyz Metcalfe joined the sanctuary in 2003,
helping to care for Anne and supporting
Keith through this troubled time. Lyz has
proved invaluable to Keith with her
dedication and love for the animals.
With her 15 years of experience in animal
welfare and to the running of a domestic
sanctuary for 7 years Lyz’s knowledge
was an instant success to the work already
being carried out by Keith & Anne at
Hallswood.
Her efforts and hard work were rewarded
when she was made a full partner in 2004.
Keith & Lyz make an incredible team,
dedicated and loving to every animal their care.
